Yahoo Sports Staff Updated Sun, November 1, 2026 at 10:14 PM UTC About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement In this story The home turf battle in Inglewood will take on a different tone in Week 8: desperation. Both the Los Angeles Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams enter the game falling short of expectations, and really needing a win.
At 0-6, the Chargers are the only team left in the NFL without a win, after the Miami Dolphins picked up their first win last week . Last weekend's bye denied the Chargers a chance to change their fortunes, but the struggling Rams could give them a shot to turn things around.
The Rams, meanwhile, are hoping to pull back to .500 by building on last week's dominant win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The Rams' superteam roster has fallen short so far, going 3-4 while dealing with three one-score losses and injuries to star players like Myles Garrett.
Still, the Rams will hope to hold off the desperate Chargers for a much-needed win of their own.

Dicker has hit yet another field goal, this one from 41 yards out.
On the other side of the two-minute warning, the Chargers lead 9-6, but the Rams will get the ball with the chance to make some noise before halftime.
The Rams are currently allergic to first downs. They have had five drives so far, and all of them but one have been three plays, followed by either a punt or an interception.
The lone outlier was a drive that ended in a field goal after three plays.
The Chargers offense continues to look competent, but just runs out of steam.
Kicker Cameron Dicker came on and hit the 46-yard field goal to give the Chargers a 6-3 lead early in the second quarter.
Herbert had a completion on the drive that went 15 yards to Tre Harris and followed it up with a 20-yard completion to Charlie Kolar.
The broadcast even shouted out Mike McDaniel's good play calling after the two plays.
The Rams had the ball at the start of the second quarter, but still can't figure out the Chargers defense.
Finally, the Chargers offense looks alive in this game. Justin Herbert led a nine-play, 56-yard drive that included a 30-yard completion to Ladd McConkey.
The drive did stall in the red zone, but Cameron Dicker was able to hit the 34-yard field goal to tie the game right at the end of the first quarter.
The Rams were unable to fully capitalize on the field position gained after intercepting Justin Herbert.
After picking up eight on two completions, Matthew Stafford had an incompletion.
This set up a 30-yard field goal for Brandon McManus, and he made it.
Justin Herbert's rough start to the season continues.
He has thrown his ninth interception of the year already.
The Chargers' offense did not improve over the bye week. They have begun the game against the Rams with back-to-back three-and-outs.
Luckily, the Rams had an interception and a three-and-out of their own in the tied game.
The Rams got the ball second in the Battle of LA against the Chargers.
Matthew Stafford and the offense was facing third and six after a false start penalty. Stafford's pass attempt to the sideline was picked off by the Chargers who take over in Rams territory.
As the last remaining winless team in the NFL this season, the Los Angeles Chargers desperately need a spark this week. That jolt will have to come from something other than a change in play-caller.
Coming out of a Week 7 bye, the Chargers are standing pat with offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel calling the shots, head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters on Wednesday .
"I feel like every stone, any part that we could look to better, that's the way we responded," Harbaugh said Wednesday of his team's off-week work, according to The Athletic .
McDaniel is in his first go-around as the team's OC after posting a 35-33 record in four seasons at the helm of the Miami Dolphins. Widely respected as an offensive innovator from the Kyle Shanahan tree, McDaniel was expected to take Justin Herbert's game to the next level. Instead, the 2020 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and two-time Pro Bowl quarterback has noticeably regressed this season.
Here's a look at the list of inactives for the Chargers and Rams in Week 8.
