Yahoo Fantasy houses some of the leading analysts in the industry, and we were fortunate enough to get all of them in a league for the 2026 NFL season. To keep you up to date on things, we'll be providing weekly recaps on all the action. Let's get into it.
Here's a quick look at what the standings are as we approach the midway point of the fantasy season:
Here's a look at the Yahoo expert league standings after Week 8.
It was a week that featured plenty of very tight matchups, including three that were decided by five or fewer fantasy points. Let's look at those before we talk about how Matt Harmon's team went atomic.
We'll start up top with Scott Pianowski. Say what you want about his team (he's already disparaged it himself), but it just keeps winning. Pianowski improved to 7-1 to move firmly into first place in the Expert League. He sent Chris Allen to a whopping seventh straight loss with a 104.92-100.5 victory. It came down to MNF with Pianowski having Luther Burden III and Colston Loveland, and Allen rolling out D'Andre Swift.
What's so fascinating about this matchup is all the busts. For Allen, he unfortunately had Lamar Jackson. But the injury to Lamar also hurt Pianowski, who played Zay Flowers. Chris Godwin Jr. gave Allen nothing as the Bucs didn't complete a pass, while Scott got 0.9 points from Keon Coleman.
Swift's three-rushing-TD explosion wasn't enough to propel Allen into the win column. Pianowski survives and gets some help elsewhere to claim first place.
That elsewhere was in the Hayden Winks-Eric Edholm matchup, which turned into another exciting finish. Going into MNF, Edholm held a 131.38-108.58 lead over Winks. Normally, that would be comfortable enough to feel good if you're Edholm. But on the other side, he was staring down Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
If you asked Edholm at halftime of Bears-Seahawks how he felt about his chances of winning, he'd likely tell you #notgood. JSN posted four catches for 92 yards and a score in the first half against Chicago. But this is fantasy football, and nothing is ever as it seems.
Smith-Njigba would catch two passes for 26 yards in the second half, leaving Winks exactly two fantasy points short of tying. We already had one tie earlier in the season in this league; two would have been wild. Instead, Edholm improved to 5-3 on the season with his third straight victory.
The other close matchup was less impactful overall for the standings as Dan Titus was able to take down Eric Froton, 104-101.78.
Now, we return to Harmon getting back in the groove. After scoring just 66 points last week in a key matchup with Winks, Harmon was the high scorer for Week 8 with 150.10 to easily dispatch Josh Norris. Tyler Warren was the only player who didn't reach double-digit fantasy points for Harmon. Norris did have Sam Darnold and the Seahawks D/ST going into MNF but that didn't play a factor at all.
Looking ahead to Week 9, we have some pretty big matchups, including Harmon-Edholm, Pianowski-Max Loeb and Justin Boone-Winks.
